Scissor Kick X Simply Put Colt

A muscle bound Scissor Kick X Simply Put Colt purchased at the 2019 Inglis Classic Sales. Bred by the famous Arrowfield Stud in the Hunter Valley, the colt will be trained by Richard Litt at Warwick Farm (winning trainer of the inaugural $2M 2YO Listed Inglis Millennium & Group 1 Champagne Stakes this year). Being a colt from such good bloodlines, the potential to race him and then have him stand as a next generation sire at stud is a very exciting prospect.

The Sire – Scissor Kick (by Redoute’s Choice)

Scissor Kick won as a juvenile at only his second race track appearance. He then improved into the early spring winning the Listed ATC Rosebud (1200m) before defeating Panzer Division in the Group 3 ATC Up and Coming Stakes (1300m). The following, Summer Scissor Kick’s campaign began with success in the Group 3 ATC Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m), beating subsequent Group 1 winner Delectation (by Shamardal). Scissor Kick then finished a length behind Dissident (by Sebring), Wandjina (by Sniztel) and Chautauqua (Encosta de Lago) when fourth in the Group 1 ATC All Aged Stakes (1400m).

Scissor Kick entered-into covering duties at his owners’ famous property in the Hunter Valley, Arrowfield Stud, in 2016. Standing alongside the horses’ sire, Redoute’s Choice (34 Group 1 winners. Significantly, Scissor Kick is out of the winning Quest for Fame mare Back Pass also the dam of the group winning full-brother Sharkbite.

The Dam – Simply Put (By Charge Forward)

Simply Put won four of her 17 race starts (winner of three metropolitan races) and placed another six times with career earnings in excess of $164,000. Her city wins were at Moonee Valley in a Fillies and Mares Benchmark 82 (1200m), Sandown Lakeside Mares Benchmark 89 (1200m) and at Sandown Hillside in a Fillies and Mares Handicap (1300m). The daughter of Charge Forward then ran a gallant second in the 2011 Group 3 Mannerism Stakes over (1400m) to go under by less than a length to finish second.

Simply Put is now the dam of three named foals, with one to race to date (Splash Headline by Manhattan Rain) which is a winner of two races. Last year Paul Perry bought the mares colt (by Not A Single Doubt) for $100,000 and it has subsequently been named Too Right.
